Get Tea Drunk
This weekend I had such a lovely experience that I wanted to share it with you all! If you live in, or happen to be visiting New York City, and you are a tea drinker, or someone who just enjoys a cup of tea, then you must go to Tea Drunk in the East Village! Tea Drunk offers a curated collection of some of highest quality, and often rarest teas available in China today. Every tea season, founder Shunan Teng spends several months trekking across more than twenty historically famous tea mountains in southern China to go straight to the source of some of the world’s finest teas. On this journey, she eats, sleeps, and works alongside farmers in order to learn about each tea’s unique history and witnesses the craftsmanship by which the farmers turn those fresh leaves into teas. Ultimately, she selects the best of the best, and these are the teas that she brings back to steep for us lucky customers.
They encourage novice sippers and seasoned tea masters alike to come sit with them and enjoy a cup of tea. They are more than happy to share their abundance of tea knowledge with you, but the goal is for you to leave calm, relaxed, and a bit “tea drunk.”
Tea Drunk has a large and impressive menu, and you can choose to come in for a pot of tea, or enjoy a tasting, so you can try several of their options. My girlfriend and I sat and had a pot of tea while chatting for a couple hours and it was just lovely. We chose from their collection of “tea friends”, and were served tea in a traditional Chinese ritual. It was downright delightful.
We left feeling calm, relaxed, happy, and a little “tea drunk”! It’s a unique and special experience that should not be missed.
