How to Really Enjoy the Summer!!

Like so may of us working 9 to 5'ers, the summer is just another season where we are stuck in an over air-conditioned office while the heat outside is just another topic of conversation. For those people, I say…"NO MORE!!” Summer is a time to celebrate with food, friends, laughter and fun!! Even if there are no exotic vacations planned anytime this sunny season, I want to share with you some helpful hints in making this summer sweet and memorable.


Eat Dinner “Al Fresco”: One of the joys of summer are the warm balmy nights. Take advantage of this amazing opportunity and take your dinner outside. Weather you cook a delightful meal of summer fruits and veggies and serve it outside, find a great outdoor restaurant to dine at, or simply barbeque, eating outside makes that one dinner feel just a bit more special.

Lounge By A Pool: Ok, so obviously not all of us have pools, including me, but that doesn’t stop the never-ending search for the perfect pool. There are many hotels out there that will let you lounge poolside just by ordering lunch or sometimes even just a drink or cocktail. Once you found your desired pool, make a lunch or brunch reservation so that once you arrive its hard for them to say no….a little trick of the trade;). If you really want to be a renegade, just stop by and check out the poolside scene, and if it seems mellow, simply lay on down an relax!! (...just remember to bring your sunscreen and beach hat)
Take a Staycation: Even if it’s just for a weekend, give yourself time to feel like a tourist and enjoy the sites and activities that your own city or town has to offer.  Sometimes I forget how many cool things there are to do around me until I have someone visiting from out of town. Give yourself the time to step back and smell the roses. Just one trip to the local museum, fancy restaurant, or tourist destination will make you fall back in love with your own city.
Find A Beach or a Natural Body of Water: I understand not all of us are residing on the costal regions. But if you can, take it upon yourself to find a natural body of water to replenish you soul and invigorate your body and mind. I truly believe in the therapeutic properties of water and its relationship to the human body. Up to 65% of your body is made up of water, so by saturating your skin, the biggest organ in the human body, in healthy water, you get rewarded with a boost of a vibrant energy.
Be Bad with Friends: Whether its grabbing your pals and going out to ice cream, sharing a bottle of wine, or staying up past midnight...its your day or night to splurge! The summer is a perfect time to relax, enjoy life and catch up with friends, so go ahead and break the rules! You can always be “good” again tomorrow.
