Make It Yourself Organic Vegan Deodorant
I must say that I am a natural deodorant connoisseur, though it took me decades to find my perfect match. Beginning my journey in high school, after years of consistantly wearing Old Spice Deodorant, I knew that my armpit's needed a break. I would leave my 16-year- old (probably toxic) hygiene habit behind in search for an organic replacement. Little did I know, finding the perfect deodorant was harder than it sounded. Trying everything from the classic, Tom's of Maine, to the chic boutique brand, Baxter, to the spray on essential oils, nothing seemed to cut the odor for more than a couple of hours. Everything was either too potent, irritating or made me smell worse. Living an active life, all I was looking for was a natural and gentle scent to keep my pH balanced throughout that day. I gave up and started going all-natural...sorry clients. As fate had it, my husband, Finain, returned home one day with a jar of his friends home-made all natural deodorant and voila, I found my match! Made with only three ingredients this miracle worker does the trick! Besides being 100% natural, a little goes a long way...one jar can last for months. It smells fresh, feels clean, rubs into your armpit without a residue and I swear cuts down on excess sweat. I needed this recipe! Luckily for my resilient husband, we acquired the recipe just in time for Coachella! If ever there was a time to make our own batch at home, it was now...or last week: 90 degrees in the desert sun and dancing... no problem, I got this! Want to know how to make it yourself? Even if you aren't going to the second weekend of Coachella, you will want to get your hands and armpits on this super easy at home deodorant recipe. Take a peak below...
1/4 cup Red Mill's, Organic Baking Soda
*optional- 10 to 15 drops of lemon essential oil or a scent of your choosing
Heat up the coconut oil in a pan until it turns into a liquid consistency. Then, in a bowl, combine the coconut oil, arrowroot powder, and baking soda. Pour the contents into a glass tupperware container and place it in the refrigerator. Wait until the mix becomes hard before you take it out. Apply the deodorant with your finger and blend it into the skin. Enjoy a so fresh and so clean day...even at Coachella!!
