Nature's Gold

Nature's Gold

I was recently visiting with my Mom (Nurse Judy), and she felt a bit of a sore throat coming on. Well, she immediately turned to an ancient Ayurvedic remedy that she has been using without fail for years. She added some boiled water to a mug, pulled the turmeric spice off the rack and added a tablespoon of it to the hot water, threw in a pinch of sea salt, and gargled the golden creation sporadicly throughout the evening. The next morning, she was back to normal!

Some of you may know that my favorite color is orange (which may have been the initial attraction that led me to this vibrant spice), but who knew how many beneficial and magical medicinal properties that this root provides! According to Ayurvedic & Chinese medicine, here are just a few to name:

~ Speeds up metabolism
~ Antiseptic and anti-bacterical agent
~ Natural liver detoxifier
~ Helps treat depression
~ Assists in clearing up dry skin disorders
~ Acts as a natural painkiller
~ Contains anti-inflammatory agents

With the change of season upon us, a few people have mentioned feeling run down and flu-like, have a case of the blues or are simply feeling the need to cleanse. Start adding turmeric into your diet and see how you feel. It can be consumed in a pill or spice form, or you can juice the root....get creative! Use this super simple recipe to detoxify and start fresh. I promise your body will thank you!

Directions:
~ 1/2 tablespoon turmeric spice (or you can juice fresh turmeric...it can stain, so be prepared)
~ 6-8 ounces of warm water
~ 3 drops of oregano oil
* It's pretty potent, so take it back quickly...like a shot!
