Oh! Megas!

Oh! Megas!

Feeling depressed even though its 80 degrees and sunny out? No worries, you may just need to splurge on some delicious Wild Salmon to give you that extra pep in your step.  You see, the typical American diet is out of whack, containing far too little omega-3 (found in fatty fish, aka salmon) and too much omega-6 (most commonly found in corn oil). Just by readjusting the scale to consume more of our friendly fish friends, we can boost emotional well-being, and remedy that unpleasant funk.

According to some estimates, Americans usually consume 14 to 25 times more omega-6 than omega-3 fatty acid. Because omega-6 is found in meats, grains, and vegetable oils, Americans are over saturating their body’s with the wrong unstable Polyunsaturated fats. Researchers also suspect that this imbalance could be taking its toll on our health. Linking the imbalance to depression, inflammation, heart disease, stress and anxiety.

So ladies and gents, its time to relish in the beauty of summer with some good friends, a glass of wine (or 2) and some fresh fish! Oh, and for people who prefer the vegan route, you can use these omega oils by adding them into your shakes, smoothies, oatmeal and salads...
