Organic Sushi Delight: Kiyokawa Japanese Restaurant

In preparation for the week of festivities ahead, I like to cleanse my system and satiate my taste buds with 100% organic sushi! Organic sushi? You may be saying, what exactly makes sushi organic? Well, my fellow Vibrant Beet readers, Organic sushi really means “wild” sushi, otherwise known as “not farmed ” sushi. More and more, the majorities of fish consumed are being bred and raised in a controlled environment. In this way, they lack many of the Natural Omega 3’s and other nutritional benefits that only occur when living, eating and reproducing in nature. So, against my natural inclination to keep this unique hidden gem of a restaurant a secret, I am willing to share my absolute favorite sushi in Los Angeles with you…its called…. Kiyokawa Japanese Restaurant. A hideaway, in the south end of Beverly Hills, Kiyokawa’s discrete signage and square footage is as understated as it comes, without losing its warm upscale ambiance. Kiyokawa only holds about six tables and a modest sushi bar, so even though it looks like a neighborhood hideaway, if your planning to check it out, make sure to call for reservations even during the work-week.
Finian in Awe of Satoshi's  Sushi Skills!
With only one sushi chef, Satoshi, who is also the co-owner, you are guaranteed only the freshest sushi of the day. Satoshi’s attention to detail truly defines a master at work as he displays his beautiful individualized sushi preparation, brushing each piece with the perfect amount of sauce. If you have a couple of hours to spare and want to indulge in a Japanese feast fit for a king, you must order the Omakase, which directly translates into, “I’ll leave it to you”. Then you can sit back relax and have Satoshi prepare his choice of traditional Japanese fare and sushi selections of the day. Whether I’m in it to win it with the Omakase or stop in for the relaxed atmosphere, fresh sashimi and incredible rolls, I have only ever left Kiyokawa blissfully content. Knowing that all the fish I have put in my belly is wild and tastes superb leaves me with an overwhelming feeling joy and gratitude! Los Angeles, you may have ridiculous traffic and tons of plastic surgery, but you do have some absolutely amazing organic sushi!! Thank you Kiyokawa!!
