When it comes to pesticides, not all produce is created equal. Fruit has regained its oh-so important popularity as a natural cancer-fighting, obesity controlling, and sugar satiating remedy. Because of this, the fruit industry is doing all it can to produce a variety of unseasonal fruits year round. The good news is you can now have a juicy nectarine in the middle of winter or a crispy apple in the midst of summer. The bad news is that most of the fruits you consume have been nurtured, grown and shipped using dangerous pesticides. Most of these pesticides are as unhealthy for you as they are for the organisms that they kill.  Ok, so one conventional piece of fruit now and then wont kill you, but over time these pesticides, fungicides and herbicides build up, creating a toxic overload for your immune system. Fruits and vegetables with less protective skins are more saturated with unhealthy chemicals then their tougher counterparts. If possible, always buy organic produce, but when the going gets tough, use the helpful lists below when shopping for you and your loved ones.
