We all scream for sardines!
How many of you would love to know about the secret to lunch that is beyond quick, incredibly easy, cheap as hell, and incredibly nutritious? In my search for the holy grail of lunch, I've found the pot of gold in this very simple sardine salad. I'll admit, I used to be entirely disgusted by sardines. They are so fishy. But those fishy little guys are one of the best source of omega-3's on the planet and you don't have to worry one bit about depleting fish populations, toxins, or heavy metals like you do with many other seafood choices.
Only 3 ounces of sardines also contains 23 grams of protein and many other important vitamins and minerals like B12, selenium, calcium, and phosphorous. They also assist in boosting heart health, improving brain function, protecting against cancer, reducing inflammation, filling common nutrient deficiencies and more.
And as I mentioned, these things are cheap. So no more excuses about not being able to afford a healthy lunch!
For my go-to cheap, easy, quick, and nutritious lunch, I make an easy salad using sardines. Get them packed in olive oil and lemon so you don't even have to make salad dressing! Simply grab a handful of your favorite green (I love arugula or pea shoots) then top with a can of sardines, some chopped avocado, and toasted nuts of your choice. Boom! Lunch is done in about 2 minutes. Happy eating!
